Canmore is a cute mountain town, with lots of hotels and places where you can stay since it's so close to Banff. The city itself has a lovely downtown area with several restaurants and bars to hang out at. Most places are not dog friendly, so if you bring a pet you may have a hard time finding a location to eat or hang out at.
Nice location. Beautiful views if you get the SW facing rooms, still very respectable views facing the other way. Good amenities, plenty of available hot tubs. A nice place to stay if you want something that feels a little more like a home away from home.
Beautiful location! Stunning scenery! The food is a bit on the pricey end but that wouldn't stop me from coming back.
We went during the summer, the experience could be very different at different times. The location is good and kitchens spacious and well-stocked. However, the rooms have no AC and so are unbearable in July heat with no fans supplied. Only one window in our apartment had a screen as well. The fold-out bed was worse than the leather couch (exposed iron springs). The wifi was quite slow, and the chairs at the kitchen table were terrible. Pool was good and service was friendly. The attendants seemed a little too willing to hand out room keys without identification though.
I stayed in a 3 bedroom condo with a full kitchen and balcony with a BBQ. The location was great as it's close to town. It was also nice to have access to a pool, hot tub and spa. Overall, the Canmore was great, however, the rooms were a bit stuffy, so perhaps better ventilation would make my stay even more comfortable. As a Pokemon Go player, it's great that there is a frequent Tauros spawn point at the end of the lodge. It would be nice if there were more pokestops and perhaps a Pokemon gym as well. A great experience overall though.
